Every potter at the studio will make a bowl. Another potter will trim and alter it, and a third potter will do the glazing. The original bowl maker won’t see their bowl until it’s finished! It’s always amazing to see how many people don’t recognize their bowls when they are done!

I am honored to have two of my pieces chosen to an exhibit at the Hunterdon Art Museum, Clinton, NJ. I was also the recipient of the Juror’s Award. The current exhibits run until January 4th.
Central Jersey Jazz Fest comes to Somerville!!

Aside from some amazing jazz performers, there will be lots of food and drink (check out the beer garden) and 30 artisans selling handmade wares and artwork! Country Squire Pottery will be there again this year so come on over and see us!! Bring a blanket or a chair… it’s FREE!!!

2014 Bowl Swap!
The 2014 Bowl Swap at the studio is underway!
Like last year… one person makes the bowl, another person trims/alters it and a third person does the glazing! Original bowl makers won’t know who’s working on their bowl,or see it until the “bowl reveal party” in a few weeks! So far, I can tell you… the bowls are amazing!

ANNUAL HOLIDAY STUDIO SALE!! Friday and Saturday, December 6th and 7th from 10am – 5pm There will be lots of unique, handmade gifts to choose from! New this year… there will be several guest potters who will also have their work for sale! Several potters will be available for you to speak with and you can watch while they create in the studio! Refreshments will be served.
Sugarloaf Arts and Crafts Festival!! No… it’s not in Vermont… it’s right here at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ. I’ll be there exhibiting my pottery in Booth #322. There will also be more than 250 other talented American artisans showcasing the finest craftsmanship in ceramics and pottery, jewelry and fashion, fine art and photography, leather, metal, wood, glass and fiber. Grab your friends and family for this fun show featuring live music, interactive children?s activities, delicious gourmet foods to sample and buy and ongoing demonstrations from master artists. The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival will be held at the Garden State Exhibit Center, 50 Atrium Drive in Somerset, New Jersey off I-287 at exit 10. Show hours are: Friday, October 25: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Saturday, October 26: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Sunday, October 27: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Parking is free! Admission to the show is $8 in advance ($10 at the door) and good for all three days. Pottery, Fire, Smoke!! Raku Firing at the Studio this Weekend, September 28th!! If you’re in the Somerville area this Saturday, we’ll be having a raku firing in the back parking lot. Steeped in Japanese tradition with a western twist, if you’ve never seen a firing like this, come out and see what it’s all about! 10am – 1pm
Central New Jersey Jazz Festival Sunday, September 15th 1:00 – 6:00pm Come visit downtown Somerville this Sunday for an afternoon of great music, food and art! Country Squire Pottery will be exhibiting on the courthouse lawn so be sure to stop by the booth, say hello and check out the new wares for the fall.
First Annual Kid’s Summer Pottery Camp!! Country Squire Pottery invites students to get their hands moving (and dirty!) in this summer camp! Students will make and glaze their own clay projects. They will learn about hand building tools and techniques used to create their ceramic piece from start to finish! Clay camp is open to kids ages 7 – 12. Classes will meet on Tuesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 am. There will be two sessions, one in July and one in August, that run for 4 weeks. Fee is $140 for each 4 week session. Annual Arts on Division Celebration!!! Thurs, May 16th through Sunday, May 19th Country Squire Pottery will once again be participating in the annual Arts on Division Event. The pedestrian mall will be buzzing with artwork of all types! Please check the schedule on the Arts on Division link at : www.artsondivision.com Country Squire Pottery will have artwork on display Friday, May 17th and will be demonstrating Raku firing all afternoon Saturday, May 18th. Combine all this with the Street Fair and Sampler Day and it will be THE place to be!!

This commissioned raku mural, with a beautiful black cherry stained, mahogany frame was picked up today. These murals are a labor of love… sad to see them go sometimes!
The festival is being held on the grounds of the famous Stangl Pottery Factory in Flemington, NJ, with over 30 potters from 4 states! There will be wheel throwing demos and raku firing demonstrations. Country Squire Pottery will be exhibiting! Come out and say hello!

Downtown Somerville will be hopping this Sunday, September 9th from 1:00-6:00 pm. There will be Grammy winning and world renowned musical artists performing as well as 30 local artisans exhibiting their artwork. Food and drink will be in plenty, including a wine and beer garden across the street from the courthouse! The weather proves to be beautiful so bring a blanket and chairs and enjoy an afternoon in historic Somerville!

Country Squire Pottery is participating in the Division Street Art Market!
On Friday nights this summer, come down to Somerville, NJ and you’ll find LOTS going on! Main Street is lined up and down with classic cars, the aroma lingering on the streets from the various restaurants can make you woozy, music plays in front of Division Street music and local artists are out in the new Division Street pedestrian mall selling handmade wares! Country Squire Pottery will be there the next three Fridays: August 10, 17, & 24 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Come check it out!!
Country Squire Pottery Raku Piece Selected for Exhibit at Grounds for Sculpture! I’m so excited to have a piece of my pottery at a juried show “Member Musings” at the Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ!! The show is running now through August 12th in the Education Gallery. If you’ve never been to the Grounds for Sculpture, you can check it out here http://www.groundsforsculpture.org/ and perhaps plan a trip! They have indoor galleries and a huge outdoor sculpture park. Plan a day, or an evening (the park is open til 10pm on Friday and Saturday until Labor Day!).
Friday night: June 15, 2012 Annual Raku Solstice Firing!! We are only one week away from our annual Raku Solstice Firing Event! On Friday night, June 15th, we will begin firing at 6:00pm and go into the evening. The Raku firing process is amazing in itself, let alone firing after dark when you can really see the red hot glowing pots! Please feel free to stop by! We will be in the back parking lot of the studio at 26 West High Street, Somerville, NJ. Rain date: Friday, June 22nd… same time/place
May 30, 2012 First Garden Totem Sent Out! By this time, the UPS man should have picked up the garden totem that was made especially for the silent auction at the Todd J. Schwartz Annual Softball classic. www.facebook.com/TJSSoftballClassic It is now, “shippin’ up to Boston” for the big event which is being held on June 16th. I wish all involved, especially the Schwartz family, lots of luck at this years Classic!
May 17 – 20, 2012 Arts on Division The annual arts fest in Downtown Somerville is scheduled this year for May 17 – 20th. There will be lots of art from some amazing local and regional artists… drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, etc. Music will fill the air and it’s also Somerville Sampler Day! What a way to grab all your senses at once! I will have three pieces of my artwork in the 59 Main Gallery….. Come on down and check it all out!
April 28 & 29, 2012 Country Squire Pottery at Lambertville, NJ Shad Fest Head down to fun and funky Lambertville for this year’s Shad Fest! There will be lots of art, food and overall merriment!! Be sure to check out the Green Building and Living Center, 51 Bridge Street, which will be showing some Country Squire Pottery!
April 22, 2012 Workshop with David Davis The workshop with David Davis was a wonderful experience! We were so fortunate to have him come speak with us and demonstrate his clay techniques for making volumetric forms. He was gracious enough to also show us how he makes his “People Pots”! June 24, 2011 The annual Raku Solstice Firing will take place in the parking lot at the studio, beginning at 6pm. Please call the studio if you are interested in participating. If you haven’t witnessed a raku firing, this will be a great time to stop by and check it out. As the sun sets, you will be able to see the red hot pots as the kiln is lifted.
June 23, 2011 Country Squire Pottery will travel to The Wellness Center in Bedminster to do a clay workshop with cancer patients and their families. The project for the day will be spirit rattles. Each rattle will hold a special prayer or intention, which will burn up in the kiln when fired and float out and up to God.
June 5, 2011 Pottery Sale at the studio 11am – 5pm! It’s the perfect time to come in and check out what’s new at Country Squire Pottery as this is also the same day as the Somerville Street Fair. Aside from work by Susan Amann, there will also be lots of student work on sale. Come on down to Somerville… check out our pottery and take the block walk down to Main Street to check out the Street Fair.
May 14, 2011 Country Squire Pottery took part in “Arts on Division” a week long celebration of the arts in downtown Somerville. After the opening in the two pop up galleries on Friday, May 13, Saturday proved to be an exciting day in Somerville. Division Street was closed to traffic and two stages were set up for continuous live music all day. A mobile “printmobile” was parked for kids to do some printmaking, there was chalk drawing in the street and Country Squire Pottery put on a raku firing demonstration all day.
